Sportsmanlike Conduct

1.  Everyone is asked to exhibit sportsmanlike conduct at all times in the facility.  No cursing, no swearing, no foul language, no drinking BEFORE OR DURING events, no fighting, NO EXCEPTIONS.  If you are seen going against anything that the race officials determine as "unsportsmanlike", the appropriate measures will be taken.  Just remember that you are at a family facility with young people looking up to you to lead them.
2.  Racers are responsible for the actions of their crewmembers, parents, siblings, etc.  Everyone attending an event for a certain racer(s), be reminded that you are representing that racer.  The racer suffers from your actions.  Again, be mindful of the environment you are in.
3.  Un-sportsmanlike Conduct!  Definition: anyone who is using foul language or aggression, anyone who is drinking before or during the events, anyone who displays rough driving or WRONG driving on the track....is exhibiting "unsportsmanlike conduct" and the appropriate measures will be taken.

5.  Please put all of your trash in the trash cans and all of your used oils in the designated barrels.
Safety Rules
1.  There will be pre-race safety tech inspections.  All karts have to be safety checked the day of the event before that kart is allowed on the track.
2.  NO ADDED WEIGHT TO THE DRIVER.  The driver must weigh his/her natural weight.  Do not add weight to the driver's body, pockets, etc.
3.  All racer's must wear all protective clothing while on the track.  This includes practice on days other than race days.  Protective gear includes gloves, helmet, neck brace, long sleeves, long pants, proper shoes (covered shoes - not sandals - tennis shoes are OK), and socks.
4.  Champ drivers must wear arm restraints.
5.  All bolted weights must be double-nutted, safety wired, and/or safety nutted (with a nylon coated nut).
6.  All bolted weights DO NOT HAVE TO BE painted white BUT THEY MUST HAVE the kart number painted in a different color on them.

7.  Some sort of brake protection device MUST be located on the kart.  Commonly called a Wolf Plate, this plate or similar product must cover the brakes at the rear axle.

2.  Front spindle/rear axle must stay within the wheel/tire line.
3.  No rear view mirrors.
4.  No loose bodywork.
5.  All bolted weights have the kart number painted on them.

On Track Procedures and Rules

1.  Transponders!  All transponders must be located on the left rear seat strut, regardless of type of kart (champ and flat).  Transponder's will be given out during the driver's meeting.  If you do not have a holder, please contact a track official.  We will check to make sure that everyone has a transponder before they go onto the race track.  Transponders are not given out during practice, so DO NOT ASK.  Personal transponders can be used during practice, qualifying/heat, and feature races.
2.  Starts!  We will start every heat and feature race at the solid white line in the tri-oval.  The first two karts must be side by side when they cross this line.  If they are not, there will be no start.  END OF STORY.
3.  Restarts!  All restarts are single-file, unless no lap has been completed.  The leader will start the race but cannot start before the exit of turn 4.  The flagman has COMPLETE control over the race.
4(A).  Finishes!  A race is official after the first lap of the heat race or after qualifying is over.  If there becomes a weather problem, points and payout will be given out in the order that they qualified or finished in the heat race.
4(B).  If a race is called "official" due to weather before the features have been run, there will be no trophies given out.  Points and payout will be given out according to the qualifying order or the finishing order in the heat races.
4(C).  Also, a race will be called official if there is a caution
AFTER the leaders have taken the white flag.  In the event of a caution after the leaders have taken the white flag, we will revert to the last completed lap with those involved in the caution moving to the rear.  If the leaders are coming to, but have not crossed, the white flag as the caution is thrown, the race is NOT over.  Once the caution gets cleaned up, we will go back to racing with a green/white/checkered finish (provided there is not another caution).
4(D).  There will only be one attempt at a green/white/checkered finish.  Once the leader takes the green flag, the race is official as the karts pass the start/finish line if there is another caution before the white flag.

5.  Cautions!  As soon as racers see the caution lights and/or flag, they are to slow down to a reasonable pace and keep a sharp eye for danger on the track.  Track officials need to
be able to get to the scene to ensure the safety of the competitor in the accident.  If there are repeated offenders of this rule, the proper measures will be taken.  These could involve, but are not limited to, that racer being moved to the rear of the field.
6.  Red flag conditions!  The red flag is flown for
a serious accident that occurred on the track.  Once a racer sees the red flag and/or lights, they are to slowly make their way back around to the starting line, where they will stop and shut off the engines.  Racers may get out of the karts if given permission by the track officials.  Racers MAY NOT WORK ON THEIR KARTS AT ALL DURING RED FLAG CONDITIONS.  NO ONE MAY WORK ON ANY KART ON THE TRACK DURING THIS TIME.  When the track is safe to return to a yellow flag condition, one person for each kart may proceed onto the track to start up that kart, then proceed directly back off of the track.
7.  3 Lap Rule!  The three lap rule means that when a kart is damaged, not of their own doing, they will have 3 laps of caution to fix the problem.  After the 3 laps are up, that racer will return to their position before the yellow fla
g.  Once the 3 laps are up and the track is safe to return to racing, we will go back to green.
8.  Two entries make a class.  If there is one entry in any given class, that racer may choose to take his registration fee back and not receive any points for that event in that class - OR - that racer may choose to pay the registration fee and receive 175 points for that event in that class.  No trophies will be awarded for one entry.

Rules about the Age of Drivers

1.  If a racer starts the season in a particular class then moves to a different class during the season, the points acquired in the first class are NON-Transferable to the second class.  Likewise, the points acquired in the second class are NON-Transferable to the first class.
2.  Once a racer moves into a non-restricted class, that racer MAY NOT move back into a restricted class.
Once a driver moves into a less restricted junior class, that driver MAY NOT move back into a more restricted class (a driver cannot move from Junior 1 to Junior 2 then back to Junior 1).
3.  All driver's must have on-file a copy of the driver's birth certificate.  This information is strictly for the track to determine and recognize when a driver is eligible to move up into another class.  If a racer has a registered driver's license, that driver does not have to submit a birth certificate.  If you have a question as to whether or not your birth certificate is on-file, contact
Dallas Schwerin by E-mail.
4.  Once a driver in the NOVICE FLAT OR CHAMP class has completed 5 races at Dacosa Speedway, that racer must move up into the Junior 1 or Sportsman Champ 1 class.
5.  No driver can register or participate in 2 different restricted classes unless the classes have the same age limits.  No driver can register or participate in Junior 1 and Junior 2 or Junior 2 and Junior 3.  Likewise, a driver cannot register or participate in Sportsman Champ 1 and Sportsman Champ 2 or Sportsman Champ 2 and Junior Champ.

Chosing the right restricted class:

(a)  Please review the Classes/Prices page for important information regarding the ages of junior drivers.
(b)  However old you are on January 1st of a particular year determines what your "age" is for the rest of the racing season at Dacosa for that year.  Once a racer starts in a particular class, that racer must finish out the season in that class - OR - forfeit all earned points in a particular class to move into a less restricted class.  (Drivers cannot move back into a more restricted class once that move has been made)
(c)  Racers must race in a class that fits their age.  Once a racer is eligible to move into a less restricted class (therefore a class with an older driver age), that racer may chose to either continue racing in the previous class for the duration of the season - OR - move into the less restricted class during the middle of the season.  Points are non-transferable between classes.

Tech Procedures

1(A).  Protests!  All protests must be made to the Race Director (Dutch Schwerin) in a CALM fashion.  We will not listen to anyone that is yelling or screaming at us PERIOD.  If you want to protest, please make your protest within 10 minutes of the completion of that particular race.  The cost is $100 to protest.  If you decide to protest, make sure you do so before the kart you are protesting leaves the impound area.  If the kart leaves the impound area, you are tough out of luck.
1(B).  All karts are required to stay in the tech area until - at the very least - the completion of the next feature race.  Some karts may stay longer, if deemed necessary by the tech inspector.

2.  The track has the power to decide how many karts will get sent to the impound area following the feature race.  The track will also decide what will be teched.
3.  DO NOT TOUCH ANY KART IN THE IMPOUND AREA UNLESS TOLD TO DO SO BY A TRACK OFFICIAL.  If you are told to do anything to a kart, make sure that it is your kart and DO NOT DO more then the tech official tells you to do.
4.  All karts must be weighed after all qualifying/heat and feature races.  In the event that a kart does not meet the minimum weight requirement (Classes/Prices page) they will start at the rear of the field for the next timed session.  If they do not meet the minimum required weight after the feature race, that racer automatically moves to last place, receives last place points, and receives last place payout (if any).
5.  There will be no arguing or justifying of any of these rules.

Race order and Pre-race Information

Race Order

The race order will be available at the track during the practice sessions.

Pre-Race Information

Pre-race tech will be open for a certain amount of time for each race day.  No karts are allowed on the track before they have gone through and passed pre-race tech.  Practice will be determined by the track officials on the day of the race.  We will either have patrolled open practice or practice by class.  If we have practice by class, practice will be performed IN THE RACE ORDER.
