| The "Race
to the Dream" is on at Dacosa Speedway!
BYHALIA, MISSISSIPPI -
Dacosa Speedway hosted the Sixth Annual Dynamic Electric
Firecracker Shootout over the July 4th weekend as racers
converged on the 1/4-mile paved oval looking to make
fireworks of their own. Practice was held on Friday the 4th
so racers who had never been to the fast tri-oval could get
some valuable seat time. Practice on Saturday was briefly
interrupted by a stray shower that found its way to the
track in the late morning but the pavement quickly dried –
an advantage of racing on pavement - and practice resumed.
As qualifying rolled on, a few ominous clouds rolled in and
the rain followed – just after qualifying was completed.
Trucks and cars circled the track in a drying effort but the
occasional sprinkle made it impossible to completely dry.
The track promoter, Dallas Schwerin, called the race for the
night and went to Plan B – the scheduled rain-out date set
for early Sunday morning. But, as promised, the fireworks
show did happen on Saturday night, a major attraction to
this event. By the way, the
winner of the Senior Champ and Senior Animal Champ class
each won a body and complete graphics package from Wilson
Motorsports, X-Ray Bodz, and Hanson Graphics (valued at
$200.00 each). The winner of the Sportsman Champ 2 class
won a tool holder, courtesy of Racing Race Products (valued
at $250.00). The winner of Junior 1 and Junior 2 each won a
chain guard from Racing Race Products. Also, Junior 1,
Junior 2, Junior 3, and Sportsman Champ 2, each won an extra
$100 for first and $50 for second place.
