| This racing weekend
is a very special one for Dacosa Speedway and the entire
Memphis racing area. Both Dacosa Speedway and Atoka
Raceway Park raced in one day, Dacosa in the morning and
Atoka at night, for a special cause. Last year,
Griffin Warniment, then 6 years old, passed away after
receiving numerous treatments at St. Jude's Children's
Hospital. This day was held in his memory. Both
tracks hosted a 50/50 drawing where 50% went to St. Jude's
in Griffin's name and the other 50% went to one lucky winner
who could choose to either give it to St. Jude's in
Griffin's name or to keep it for themselves. I am
proud to say thank you to Roy Vaughn and Page Gregory
(winners of the drawings) for giving their winnings right
back to Al Warniment, father of Griffin, who in turn gave it
to the donation to St. Jude's. Thank you to everyone
who helped put this racing weekend on, and a special thank
you goes out to Al Warniment and friends who came down from
Ohio to race at both tracks! |
